Conversion

Middleton Yard, Northumberland

CRA were initially appointed to inspect and report on the structural condition and environmental setting of a collection of buildings which formed Middleton Estate with a view to conversion. Following planning approval we designed the conversion of the sawmill segment of the estate into a home, holiday lets and commercial bakery. The original feature roof trusses and frames were repaired and retained with a new loadbearing timber frame introduced to enhance the stability of the structure.

Juniper Water, Edinburgh

A former brick built industrial unit located in Juniper Green on the banks of the Water of Leith, this development converted the original structure into five, three storey town houses including feature roof terraces with views over the river. A new structural frame was inserted within the original building to support new Posi-Joist flooring with the steel truss roof structure retained and adapted to support the roof terraces and large glazed roof lights.

Drygate Brewery Co, Glasgow

A former multi use two storey warehouse within the site of Tennent’s` Wellpark Brewery has been redeveloped into space which offers a bar, restaurant, roof terrace, event space and a microbrewery were beer enthusiasts can create their own brew and brand. CRA provided structural engineering services for the alterations including a full assessment of the existing roof to ensure that the over cladding could be accommodated and the original asbestos roof retained and undamaged within.
